Cloud Nine's July 2014 production was a first for the company - two brand new plays on the same bill! Two voices from our region, one the debut of Newcastle-based writer Joanna Rimmer (whose play evolved from our recent playwriting workshops), the other the return of our very own Peter Mortimer.

This is a lively, irreverent highly comic piece about the consequences to a marriage when the husband dedicates himself to winning a donut eating contest: and in another first, Cloud Nine are grateful to Whitley Bay baker Brian Clement, who not only provided the doughnuts required on stage, but added a few for the audience, too! Fix those missing slates, missus....?

Peter Mortimer's newest play is a modern urban fable on the potential pitfalls awaiting a casual commercial transaction. But they're not quite what you would imagine...

The show played at the Low Lights for three nights (photographed, top, by David Turnbull then moved to a new venue at Tynemouth's Surf Café, and ended its run at the Under the Dome Festival, Whitley Bay (remaining photographs by Dave Shaw).
